A half-space based contact detection algorithm for complex blocks

چکیده

Contact detection algorithm is a critical constituent of discontinuous calculation method, the accuracy contact directly affects simulation results. Algorithms for between irregular blocks are difficult to achieve because complexity geometry and diversity types. A half-space based proposed, it can accurately identify relationship convex polygonal polyhedral blocks. The proposed approach implemented into continuum-discontinuum element method. This consists two stages: first potential pairs then judge status by half-space. Half-space defined boundary block, judging inclusion relation pairs, be detected, there no need calculate distance in process state detection. realized through programming, several examples validated this algorithm.
